The Joint Implementation Commission (JIC)

The Methodist Conference and the Synod of the Church of England agreed to set up a joint commission which would have the task of monitoring and promoting the implementation of the Covenant.

Peter Howdle

The JIC is chaired by Professor Peter Howdle, ex Vice-President of Conference, on behalf of the Methodist Church; and The Right Reverend Ian Cundy, Bishop of Peterborough on behalf of the Church of England.

In 2005 this Joint Implementation Commission (JIC) produced an interim report, In the Spirit of the Covenant, which was presented to the Methodist Conference and the General Synod of the Church of England.

The interim report consists of various materials (including two personal essays) which present a range of views on a number of topics, and which are presented in order to stimulate thought, prayer, response and action throughout the two Churches.
