Roundswell, Barnstaple, Devon

Roundswell Church Poster"Roundswell Church is a working partnership of the Church of England, Baptist, Methodist, and United Reformed churches that seeks to make Jesus known as we serve the community of Roundswell. We meet in the community centre each Sunday.

As a church we believe that small groups are an integral part of our church mission and our life together. They are a helpful way of growing together in faith, sharing our lives and worshipping Jesus whom we desire to share as we reach out to others in Roundswell and our neighbourhood. We run a number of small groups that meet at a variety of times and venues. It all hangs on the ' 4 W ' s ' - Welcome, Worship, Word and Witness. "

In Manchester City Centre

The basement of Methodist Central Hall is now the home of three initiatives meeting the needs of younger people visiting the city centre for a night out.

Staff from both Anglican and Methodist Churches run a 'night café' - 'Nexus.' Nexus has as its slogan: 'Prepare to be Surprised'.

A Creative Arts Centre provides a night time venue for film, art and gigs.

Both are part of the local authority's 'City Centre Safe' strategy for young people enjoying a night out.

The venue also now hosts Sanctus 1, offering a contemporary church for city dwellers, mainly in the 18 - 40 age range.

The Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch, Bishop of Manchester, says 'Church is about people - being where people are. I hope Nexus will become a place of friendship and welcome for people who live and work here.'

Hazelwell (Birmingham) - 'The Hub'

The HubWhen the Methodists joined the Anglicans to form Hazelwell Church in Birmingham a few years back, they became part of some very creative community work. This has culminated recently in the opening of the Hub, an impressive and extremely busy community facility next to the church.

In Petersfield, Hampshire, all the local churches are involved in a courageous piece of work with the young people of the town - Kings Arms - where under-achieving youngsters can find something better in life than alcohol, drugs and vandalism.
